Talking about the parties directly may be a dead end tbh. There is so much mental baggage, bias and fatigue associated with the parties, focusing on issues and ideas seems the right strategy and making a conscious effort to keep the parties as a secondary or tertiary data point.

So check this out @skeet . These are the current overrides I have set. They allow me to override any css i want, so what i did was i went through the site briefly in chrome, saw a few things that looked like they could be improved, right clicked on those elements and chose inspect, then copied the selector, pasted it in chatgpt and told it: override this selectors color with light brown, or make the text in this selector bigger, etc. then i tweaked its output. If you gave me a list of overrides like this back i would be happy to try them out. One thing i keep coming back to is that we need to take this country back from Wall Street. Companies should not be putting people’s retirement in 401ks. They should have pension funds and banks should have to offer high interest savings accounts. This seems like a big step (back) in the right direction to me.

Alright, I figured this one out. It looks like by default the board was showing GDPR registration process. That's the higher level of explicity that Europe require regarding authentication process. Most of us never see this kind of thing in the US, unless we use a VPN. Anyway, the registration process shouldn't be so scary any more. No, we will not do anything with your data and I guarantee that all we're really recording is IP address to ban bad actors like Chinese spambots.

This new version of the board has the concept or remote categories and federated content. Going to look into that because maybe other people are using it for similar things. Im mulling over ideas about using web vs something like discord, and also if both things can live in harmony without bifurcating a community. Distributed anonymous systems are less corruptable, but hosting our own server(s) is also less corruptable.

I would like to write a monthly flier for the purposes of posting in public places. Im thinking libraries. These fliers should help people reframe issues. And identify what really matters without condemnation. They might use socratic method to do so. They should be positive and thoughtful. They should encourage people to consider issues with lessened biases. Does this sound like a good idea?

This site is intended to give users a place to discuss the future. A site that will not turn into a pile of shit. This site will never monetize with advertising. As it scales, we will divide the board into smaller regional boards and pay all server costs with private donations. We will maintain this site as a group for this group! I’ve run an instance of nodebb (the lovely open source forum software which this board runs on) for a small community for a decade. That other board never earned a penny and we like it that way. No ads, no federated authentication. No bullshit. This board will focus on educating society about the forces that are dragging us into the Enshittocene. However, I hope you make meaningful friendships along the way, and this experience should not pretend to be linear. We are better together. A good internet can be done! I ask for your trust and lets build something distributed that will not fail.
